Mason's Party

We had so much fun at Mason's party tonight. The night consisted of a tournament of 8 different events.
Here is Team 1 - "We the People" (They named themselves.)
Team 2, The Dominators, were the returning champions from last year. They had hopes of defending their title tonight.
Event # 1 - Nerf War
The war was two segments of 7 minutes each. The teams rotated having the upstairs and downstairs. 10 points were awarded for each hit. (Mallory and I were the bullet collectors for the teams. I was officially The Dominators assistant, and she helped We the People).
The winner of this event was............We the People!

Tim kept score from the dining room. He reserved the right to award special points for exceptional moves. Matthew got bonus point for charging boldly into enemy territory, and Mason got bonus points when he shot a bullet that stuck to Matthew's glasses.

We took a break for pizza........

and birthday cake.
Event # 2 was Wii bowling.

Matthew had skills as a lefty, and Jonathan was a pro at the curve. These must have been the factors that brought victory to The Dominators in this event.

Event # 3 was the ever-popular Ping Pong.
The Dominators were still on a hot streak and they won this event as well.

Event # 4 - Candy guessing
Each team had 14 different bite-sized candy bar samples that they needed to identify.
We the People won because of their knowledge of a Heath Bar and a Baby Ruth.

Event # 5 - Foosball

This was quite close and very suspenseful! The Dominators, who had previously been trailing their opponents, took the lead with a victory in this event.

Tim was always near by recording and reporting the scores.

Event # 6 - Popcorn Toss
This event consisted of two rounds of 3 minutes each where they took turns attempting to throw popcorn into their partner's mouths. Round one ended in a tie of 21 each, so we were thinking that it was going to be a close event. We the People, however, blew it wide open in round two thanks to Nathan's precise aim! This victory helped them to regain the overall lead. (You should have seen the mess. They missed much more than they made it.)

Event # 7 - Pudgy Bunny
Each team member had to put as many mini marshmallows into his mouth as possible and repeat the phrase "Pudgy Bunny" 5 times. We had some close calls with gagging! We the People won by a landslide. Mason and Nathan each stuffed about 40 marshmallows into their pie holes!

The 8th and final event - Frozen T-Shirts
The only way that The Dominators could win the championship and retain their title was to take first and second in this event. The pressure was on! This turned out to be much harder than we had anticipated. We had soaked 4 shirts in water, folded them up tight, and put them in the freezer the night before. Different point totals were to be awarded to the boys who were able to put the shirts on 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th. It took forever! They were frozen rock hard - literally. We actually thought that they were going to break a tile when they were banging them on the floor.

It was a battle hard fought by all, but We the People won a decisive victory! Congrats to the Champions!
Nothing like a good fire and some s'mores on an 80 degree day!

HAPPY 13th BIRTHDAY, MASON!!
(I may load some video tomorrow. I was going to do it tonight, but this took forever!!)

More of Mason's Birthday

We went to Taste of Texas for Mason's birthday dinner. He enjoyed every bite of the 10 oz filet he ordered!
The bears at the restaurant are ferocious!

Check out the 10 inch chocolate cake, complete with a sparkler for a candle.
Abby Kate and Shelby - thanks for the beautiful birthday pictures! Mason loved them!

Duct tape from Mal - always a crowd pleaser.

And here it is - the long awaited special present - a guitar!!

Birthday Morning

My boy is 13 years old today!! Here he is surrounded by donuts and letters from Mom and Dad. We are so very proud of the fine, godly young man that he has become. We are truly blessed to have him as our son!

I guess I should have listened to the voice quality before I uploaded this. Just turn your sound down!

How is this for a birthday schedule - Mason has a 3 hour and 45 minute math class today! He has a test that lasts an hour and then 2 hours and 45 minutes of lessons. Stink-o-la!
More birthday pictures to come tonight and tomorrow from his party.

T.V. Commerical

Sweet Tobsters!

This is a T.V. commercial that the girls did tonight for the Girl Scout cookies they were eating!
They are saying "If you eat caramel cookies, you'll get the point!"

A Very Upbeat and Entertaining Song

Okay, I am borderline obsessed with this song. I have the album (DVD and cd) of Celtic Woman New Journey, Cheri and Jo know this group, too. This song, Granuaile's Dance, I think, is SOOOOOO GOOD! I listen to this over and over on my ipod as I clean up the kitchen after dinner. Turn up your sound as loud as you can handle- it's just so good!!

Snow Day

We woke up to a winter wonderland, the snow was so soft and fluffy (and deep), very pretty and a lot of fun to play in! Needless to say , we did a morning of "sitting down school", and used the afternoon for P.E!

Enchanted Rock Campout

Tim and Mason went camping at Enchanted Rock with the Scouts this weekend. They had a great time despite the first night being 32 degress and the second night being 28 degrees. Burr!!
As Tim went to Mason's site to get some pictures, Mason was walking away from cleaning and Tim heard him say, "Well, they are almost clean." I guess that is good enough?
This campout featured a Padded Weapon Battle. Using the "safety guidelines", the kids made their own weapons for the battle.
Here is Chad with his weapon.
Wow - Mason is so strong!!

The Senior Patrol Leader and his assistants all left for part of the time to go backpacking and sleep in a different part of the camp. Mason was chosen to be the Acting SPL while they were gone. The goal is for this to be boy-led troop, so this was an honor for Mason to be chosen.

Tim will be remembered this campout for setting off his car alarm at 5:28 on Sunday morning!!
