Skeet Shooting

Skeet Shooting

Jake attended a "Hot Shots" course - four days - at Odessa College where the students were trained in gun safety and learned archery, target and skeet shooting. The class was bussed to a ranch outside of Odessa where the rancher does skeet shooting. Jake took it upon himself to ask the rancher where the least-expensive place is to go hunting in/around Odessa. The man said, "Right here. It's donations only." The man gave Jake his phone number, and today we visited the ranch and did some skeet shooting, all for a donation of our choice. The rancher gave Lane the combination to the gate and we were in - we never saw the rancher. Here are some videos of the setup and of both Luke and Jake making some good shots. Another thought...we have this little tradition in our family of saying "Let's have a 'Remember this Moment.' " For instance, we will say it when the four of us are on a ski lift together, or all four of us are sitting by the ocean - it reminds us how blessed we are to be able to do special things! After our morning of skeet shooting Jake said, "This will be a Remember this Moment that will last my whole life!"

Father's Day in Austin

We went to Austin to spend some time with Tim's family. We had a great time playing games, swimming, and enjoying each other's company. Thanks, Linda, for your hospitality.
Tim and Rhonda tried the Ab Trolley.
Happy Father's Day to both of you!

Happy First Day of Summer!!!

Happy first day of summer, and happy Father's Day to Corbin and all of my wonderful brother-in-laws, and Grandpa Fitz! Although most of you probably are familiar with the "scientific" reason behind the changes of the seasons, I always need a refresher, so here's a link you can enjoy, plus this diagram!

Andrew's card house:)

I saw the wheat harvest beginning across the road, so I (and AM, A & T) walked across the road, and was blessed to meet a kind woman, who owns the land across from our house-600 acres of wheat, and told us a little about how she and her husband harvest. Soybeans will be planted next, what fun to watch this land change, and produce crops, all the while so beautiful to enjoy with our eyes!!

A rough morning for Mal..........

Sweet Mal had a bit of a rough morning! We were so excited for her to finally get that dreaded Herbst out of her mouth. They first took off her top brackets...............

then they stared to remove the Herbst.
It did not want to come out! They had to saw and pull and saw and pull. At one point, Mal said, "I smell something burning." Well, that burning smell was her gums. She actually had black, burned areas on her gums where the drill they used to try to remove the appliance had burned her! It was quite painful.

She only got to experience freedom for a few minutes before they started to put her full braces on.

Here she is 1 hour and 45 minutes later! She was such a trooper!!

Go to Mal's blog to see her version of the morning and her Top 7 List of things you don't want to hear your orthodontist say.
