Backpacking Trip

Tim and Mason went with the High Adventure Scouts on a backpacking trip. The was the first time for them to go on a trip like this where they have to carry everything on their backs.

Tim's tent was quite small. He found it a challenge to change his clothes while in a horizontal position!

Yes, this was self-taken.

All the food they took was prepacked. Most of the entrees were freeze dried - just add water and enjoy! Well....it was more like just add water and try to choke it down!

Backpacking stoves are quite different than your traditional camping stoves.

The guys said that the green beans were terrible.
This is an easy way to do it.
This "Homestyle Chicken" was a bit hard to choke down.
It drizzled on them so they were glad to have their backpack covers.

Lunch of Ritz crackers, tuna, cornnuts, and a rice krispie treat!
This sign is not too intimidating.....unless you are carrying all your supplies on your back!

They actually had a place to "rest." See how the building goes below the floor line. The ...umm....products of the rest time drop down to compost. No, there was no place to wash their hands.

What a good time..I love the father/son pics...at least it was cool weather...that would keep the smell down from the "compost" right?
