Mason had his district conference today. I guess we would say overall that it was a good experience, but there were a few bummers. The kids were broken up into committees in the morning, and they were supposed to present their bill in their committee. Well, in Mason's group, the kids who were chairing had never done it before and did not manage the time very well. We did only 3 bills in the first hour and a half. They realized that we only had 30 - 45 minutes to do the next 10. They had to amend the rules to get through them. The remaining kids had about 1/16 of the time they were supposed to have. Mason had worked so hard on this bill, so this was quite disappointing! He did not get the experience of presenting it properly. (It did pass, though.)
The kids then met together for a general assembly where 10 bills from the committees were chosen. They picked bills that would promote quite a bit of debate. Well, we found out that Mason's bill had been picked! This was really an honor. Bummer again, though. We only got through 4 of the bills, so Mason again did not get to present. He was okay with it all, and was honored that his was chosen. The picture taking did not quite go so well either, but here they are.

I want to hear that bill, Mason, since we are now radical extremists who love our guns too!
