Otha, our friend from church, met Corbin, and 5 others in the tour, outside the west gate to the White House, then took him here.
No photographs were allowed inside for security purposes.
Self Explanatory:)
Entrance to the west lobby, where dignataries are dropped off and then escorted inside to wait for the President. This Marine opens the door for everyone.
Drive way to above picture.
Corbin came out of these doors, then turned to his right, to the press room.
After he turned right, out of the above doorway, he took this picture. The press room is right past the light pole, on the right. From this view, you see the side of the White House, you can see the awning where you would exit from the East Wing tour.
Yes, this is the actual press room! (Not a replica like we all have pictures from, Kelly) But, they were not allowed to stand behind the podium, that's strictly for official business.
Press room. These are actual press people, working on their laptops, waiting for news to happen!!
Each chair is labeled, or assigned, for specific media organizations.
There are 2 more pics that one member of the group will hopefully e-mail to us- One of the rose garden (security told her afterwards not to take pictures there), and then of course the group pic with President Obama. Oh, and Corbin saw the swing set for the girls.
Okay, I didn't know this was going to be a West Wing tour, if Otha said it over the phone, then I must of heard it as just a White House Tour- or he may have just said White House Tour. Either way, I'm glad Corb got this chance. They met P.O. right outside the Situation Room, in the hallway to the V.P.'s staff. The tour went to the Oval Office after their photo op., and P.O. beat them there, because he was in the Oval Office, with the door closed, so they didn't get to go in.
One interesting fact is that Corbin went down the "Million Dollar Hallway" in which there are 4 original Norman Rockwell paintings, with White House themes, apparently worth a million dollars. The paintings were donated.
